St. Anthony’s CYO

Pee Wee I & II

Divisional Rules

Rules Revised: 16 May 2010

   General

v       Practices are only at St. Anthony’s Field, and never away from the CYO Complex.

v       Practice for 20-30 minutes starting at the appointed time, and games end 5 minutes before the start of the next session (rule modified mid-2010 season).

v       Games begin after the Opening Pray and the National Anthem, and not before.

v       Please line players up along the foul line at your dugout for the Pray and Anthem.  Please have the players tuck their shorts into their pants, and take their hats off.

v       Players can not wear their hats backwards.

v       Helmets must be worn at all times when batting and running bases.  This is a zero-tolerance.  Helmets must have a face mask, even if it is a child's personal helmet.

v       There is no on-deck circle.

v       Play all players in field.

v       PWI—an inning is over when all players get to bat once.

v       PWII—an inning is three outs.

v       Coach pitches in PWI for the entire season

v       In PWII, coach pitch except for the last four weeks.  Then players go to the pitching machine.

o       In case in light rain, when games are not cancelled, the machines are not used, and revert to coach pitching.

v       There is no leading or stealing.

v       A batter is not allowed to slide into first base (added to rules mid-2010 season).

v       5-run mercy rule in PWII.

v       At the conclusion of the game, each team will line up on their respective foul line for the traditional good sportsmanship handshake at home plate (added to rules for 2005).

   Batting

v       PWI—hitter gets a single, last batter clears the bases.  Please rotate the last batter, so all kids get a chance hitting last.

v       PWII—no limit on base when hitting, their can get more than a single.

v       Both Divisions--Each batter is allowed five strikes, if the batter strikes out, he/she will be allowed to take 1st base (except if the strike out is the third out of the inning), but an out is scored.  This way they do not get dejected, and can practice base running.

v       PWII—no bunting or stealing.

   Fielding

v       Play one player at each infield position (inc pitcher, but not catcher), and spread the rest throughout the out field.

v       Bases are 40’ apart.

v       Please follow the St. Anthony’s CYO Philosophy.

v       Have Fun and Play Ball!
