CYO Soccer Rules

 

 

Game Rules


1.  The maximum length of the half shall be 30 minutes.

2.   Maximum number of players, per team, allowed on the field (including the goalie) shall be 11 for seniors, 8 for minors and majors. In the event the opposing team has less than the maximum number of players, the teams will match up and play with an even amount.
 

2.  Free substitution is permitted when the ball goes over the sideline or end line.

3.  Equipment:

    a.  Only sneakers or shoes with molded soles and molded cleats are permitted. Shoes with metal posts or spikes are not permitted.


    b.  Shin guards must be worn at all times by all players.

    c.  An all-purpose type helmet shall be worn by the soccer goalie for protective purposes. The helmet must cover the head.


5.  One time out period per half may be called whenever the ball is dead. The coach is permitted on the field during the time out period to instruct the players.

6.  The sliding tackle is not permitted.

7.  The overhead scissors kick is not permitted.

 

These rules are based on the MODIFIED BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER rules as stated by the

New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
